“Main Street”

As part of my ongoing journey to read 200 classics, I recently finished “Main Street” by Sinclair Lewis. Having been raised in Rural Texas, this novel touched painfully close to home for me, because it critiques the illusion of the idyllic American small town and the limitations it imposes on personal growth and societal progress.

Movies tend to romanticize small town America, but I personally found “Main Street” to be a far more accurate depiction of rural American life - even today.
