Men Writing Women

I’ve been on a quest over the last 6 months to read this huge collection of 100 classics, many of which are written by men. I’m currently about halfway through, and one thing I’ve noticed is that male authors simply can’t figure out what women are attracted to. It’s like the male authors just come up against a wall when it comes to describing what a woman might be interested in.

Typically, the heroine falls in love with some random man who has no mentionable characteristic other than he’s rich and tall. That’s it. But the women in these same stories are described in great detail, right down to the shape of their dainty little hands.
